John Tory, Mayor
Proclamation
Toronto Urban Agriculture Week
September 10 - 18, 2022
WHEREAS this week provides an opportunity to celebrate Toronto's urban agriculture which highlights locally grown food and the people who grow it.
People are encouraged to learn more about urban agriculture by picking up delicious, locally grown food and taking part in garden tours, webinars and seminars.
Toronto consistently ranks as one of the most livable, sustainable and resilient cities in North America. The City's policies work to enhance water and air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and establish vibrant green spaces across Toronto.
Green spaces provide a variety of ecological benefits that are important to the health of individuals and communities, and provide a positive impact across the city and beyond its borders.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor John Tory, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim September 10 - 18, 2022 as "Toronto Urban Agriculture Week" in the City of Toronto.
